Condenser Coil
Common Questions
What does the condenser coil do?
The condenser coil is inside your outdoor unit and is where heat gets released to the outside air. In cooling mode, the refrigerant dumps its heat here after picking it up from your room and carrying it out through the line set.
How does the condenser coil work in heating mode?
In heating mode the coil reverses and absorbs heat from the outdoor air instead of releasing it. That reversal is what allows a single piece of equipment to work as a heat pump, handling both seasons without a separate furnace or air conditioner.
What keeps a condenser coil working properly?
Keeping leaves, dirt, and debris away from your outdoor unit helps the condenser coil breathe properly. A clogged or dirty coil makes the whole system work harder and shortens its lifespan, which is why clearing it belongs in routine maintenance.
