What is a mini split?
A mini split is a compact heating and cooling system made up of two main parts: an outdoor condenser unit and one or more indoor air handlers. They are connected by refrigerant lines instead of ductwork, which is also why they get called ductless systems.
Which spaces are mini splits used for?
Mini splits are popular for spaces where running ducts is not practical — garages, sunrooms, additions, older homes, or any room that is always too hot or too cold. Installation works around the space instead of opening walls for ductwork.
What makes a mini split different from central air?
Room-by-room control is the main difference. Each air handler has its own thermostat, so you condition the room you are in, and going ductless tends to be more energy-efficient than traditional forced-air systems.
