Wall Mount (High-Wall)
Common Questions
What is a high-wall mount air handler?
The high-wall mount is the most common type of indoor air handler for mini splits — a slim unit installed near the top of the wall, usually six to twelve inches from the ceiling, where it stays clear of furniture and everyday sightlines.
Why are high-wall units mounted so high?
Mounting near the ceiling lets the unit blow conditioned air down and across the room at an angle, which distributes temperature evenly. It also keeps the equipment out of the way of furniture and everyday traffic through the room.
What other air handler styles are available?
Ceiling cassettes, floor mounts, and concealed ducted units are the other common styles, though the high-wall is the standard for most homes. High-wall units also stay easy to reach for filter cleaning.
